Barn Conversion

A structural design was developed to facilitate the conversion of a traditional masonry barn into a functional residential space. The existing structure comprised solid stone walls with areas of previous repair, requiring careful assessment to ensure stability during alteration works.

The proposed solution included the introduction of new steel beams, columns, and pad foundations to support new and altered openings, while maintaining the integrity of the retained structure. Consideration was given to wall stability, construction sequencing, and integration with existing materials.

The final design provides a robust and compliant structural solution, enabling the safe transformation of the barn while preserving its original character.
